  • Vray 6 Hyorid rendering CPU+GPU?

    Hello

I was wondering if vray hybrid rendering is still an option rtx + cpu maybe? Can't find that option, I thought once it was there back in V5.

    Cheers

    Hello RwVision,

Please note that V-Ray Hybrid rendering can only be performed using CUDA + CPU. Currently, there is no way to render with RTX and CPU at the same time. You can find more information about Hybrid rendering here. I hope this is of help.

Are there any benchmarks if Hybrid is really faster than RTX.
I would do some tests but i have no workstation at the moment.

        Hello oglu,

You can compare the score of V-Ray CUDA agains V-Ray CUDA hybrid. However, as the score points of V-Ray, V-Ray GPU CUDA and V-Ray GPU RTX are different for the engines, you won't be able to compare the scores for the different engines.

You can check the V-Ray Benchmark results here. You can also find more information about V-Ray Benchmark here. I hope this is of help.

          Hey!

If you have a good CPU, Cuda mode + CPU should be faster in most cases
Optix will shine in scene with hair, fur or grass, where you have large surface of geometry intersecting with lighting

I managed todo a short test. A pile of coins with a gold shader.

            RTX 2min 30sec
            CUDA CPU+GPU 2min 45sec
            CUDA GPU 3min 60sec

CPU with a much lower noise threshold to get the same feeling of noise 5min 49sec

Before I final render a job, I always test CUDA-Hybrid and RTX-GPU rendering. Sometimes CUDA-Hybrid is faster and sometimes RTX-GPU is faster.

Bevor ich einen Job Final rendere, teste ich immer CUDA-Hybrid- und RTX-GPU Rendering. Manchmal ist CUDA-Hybrid schneller und manchmal ist RTX-GPU schneller.

                Thanks for sharing pardalis oglu
There are many variables, RTX performance scales better with newer GPUs
It is faster in 4090s than 3090s, and faster in 3090s than 2080tis
Newer GPUs have better raytracing hardware, specially from Turing to Ampere, it is quite a big gap
