  • Vray 6.2 and Pyro

In the release notes its mentioned that it is now possible to render Pyro directly in Vray.
I can't find any information how to set it up in Vray?
    Anyone tried it with success?

    Hello RickardAx

Thank you for your interest. It works by adding a Pyro object to the volume grid through the new VDB Generator Volume Type. More information you can find here: https://docs.chaos.com/display/VC4D/Input

The two simple steps to make it work:
    1. Import the Pyro object in C4D: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...9_10-14-44.jpg

    2. Add the Pyro object to the V-Ray Volume Grid and adjust the Volume Type: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...9_10-15-27.jpg

        Hi Viktor
        Thank's for the answer.
When you say import the Pyro object, do you mean to cache the scen and then put the Pyro object in the VDB-generator. Because I get the cache symbol on the pyro object but your image shows a normal symbol?
If I cache the scen I get it to render. But just grey smoke. I can not get the fire even if I crank up the fire multiplier.
Any suggestion how to solve it?

          Thank you for your questions!

Please, note that this is expected at the moment. The presets are not yet supported. It's been worked on [VC4D-2124] We will contact you once it's available for use.

Additionally, I am attaching the steps if anyone else would like to use this workflow:
          1. Go to Project > Simulation > Pyro and Create Output Object. It will create a Pyro Output object in the scene: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...5_12-31-48.jpg
          2. Cache the created simulation by going to Pyro Output > Cache > Cache Scene: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...5_12-37-47.jpg
          3. Once the Pyro Output object is cached, go to the VDB Generator and add the object to it: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...5_12-38-18.jpg

If you play with the settings you can get decent results with both fire and smoke, but I really hope they offer us some good presets otherwise is not easy to get there.
