  • Cinema to Max vrscene import

I sometimes have to send my cinema assets to another freelancer using max, also vray. Our current method isn't great and wanted to try .vrscene, as it works very nicely for bringing max assets to cinema. The only issue is that I'm stumped on how it works. It looks like the only way is though the enscape import, which asks for a .vrscene but is greyed out unless I add an "embedded" folder? It seems ok if I pick the cinema local tex, but it's basically empty since I work with absolute/global paths. Let me know if I'm missing anything and if there is a more universal way to import.

You can try this two options:

    Attached Files
3D Scenes, Shaders and Courses for V-ray and Corona
    NEW V-Ray 5 Metal Shader Bundle (C4D/Max): https://www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/...ders-cinema4d/

Hello wolfgang_himmelfarb Could you please elaborate on exactly what is that you need assistance with? From what I understand, it's the import into Max that you are asking about. I will explain it below but if that's not correct, please, let me know.

You can import a vrscene file from V-Ray > VRayScene. Please, refer to the video recording: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...2_10-30-37.mp4

Feel free to discover more about VRayScene here: https://docs.chaos.com/display/VMAX/VRayScene

Apologies, I think I was unclear. As an example, if I model and UV layout in Cinema but have to send to a Max user for texture and animation I use the "Enscape Importer" like I posted above. The scene and geo needs to be edited as if it was n fbx or some other format. I just wanted to clarify that the "Enscape Importer" is the way to do that. Thank you for your responses.

Ah, thank you for sharing wolfgang_himmelfarb would you say that the VRscene importer does not work the same way: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...2_10-30-37.mp4

It's not called Enscape vrscene importer without a reason. It covers assets that are exported with the Enscape vrscene exporter. Trying to import vrscenes in Max coming out of random places is entirely at your own risk
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Yes, the vrayscene file comes in but I don't see how to edit it. How would you export a chair from cinema 4d with vray node textures and vray lights and camera into Max in such a way that you could edit the chair, lights and cameras? That's my questions. Not using Max as a stager but editor?

Bruh, it's not "random places." Its Chaos Vray in Cinema - the forum we are in presently. It's going to Max Vray which last I checked is also Chaos, using your proprietary exchange file format. Not sure if you're trying be funny but I'm good on that.
