  • Cryptomat - bright outline around elemenys

    hello,
I normally do the post production in AE, but I wanted to play around a bit with cryptomat and I'm thrilled.
I used cryptomate to reduce the brightness of the sky via exposure. it works well, but I have a bright outline around the other elements.
    How can I avoid this?

    Thanks

    Hello haniel1107
I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying using the Cryptomatte Render Element. In this situation, though, you might want to take a different approach:

    Using V-Ray Environment:
    1. Create a V-Ray Environment:

      a. Create a Dome light with an HDRI texture and make it Invisible - In the V-Ray Environment, switch "Override Background" on and insert the same HDRI as the one used for the dome light. (Pic. 1)

      b. Create a V-Ray Sun with Sky - If you want to use V-Ray Sun with Sky, you have to add a VRaySky texture in the "Override Background" tab and link it to the Sun in the scene by selecting the texture, going to Options, and using the Object picker to select the Sun. (Pic. 2 and Pic. 3)

    2. Add the Background render element by going to V-Ray > Render Elements
    3. In VFB, start your render and add the V-Ray Background RE twice in the Composite Layer also add an RGB Color

    4. Set the first Background RE to Add and the second to Subtract and add an Exposure layer to the first one.

This will allow you to correct the exposure without affecting any of the objects in the scene. You can also add other layers to achieve different effects, as this will only affect the background.

I'm also including a video of the whole process:
