  • Cinema 4D freezes when creating a vray material (preview doesent*t show up)

    Hello everyone,

    After formatting the computer and reinstalling, Cinema 4D freezes as soon as I create a Vray material. After some seconds, C4D allows me again to use the UI, but every clicks results again in a freezing UI. The material preview is not displayed/renderd. I have updated all drivers and installed the latest versions of C4D and Vray. I am working on an HP Zbook Fury with an i7-11850H and an Nvidia RTX A3000. The creation of RS material works without any problems. Any ideas what causes this issue?

    Hello torsten_buthmann

    Could you please let me know the exact Cinema 4D ( Help > About ) and V-Ray for Cinema 4D ( V-Ray > Help > About ) that you are using?
    What Drivers are you using?
    Does it happen with all V-Ray Materials? What about Node Materials as well?

    Could you open your Internet browser, go to http://localhost:30304/ and make sure that you are logged in to your Chaos account and that you have your V-Ray for Cinema4D license active?

    If everything is fine with the License Server, please go to Extensions > Console > V-Ray, maximize the window, and send me a screenshot of it. Then, please send us a dump file from the freeze. You can find instructions on how to collect this here.

    Meanwhile, can you please confirm if you can successfully create a material, apply it to an object (with a light in the scene) and render it with V-Ray (even with the freeze)? Do you get any warning or error messages?

      Hi Viktor, thank you for your quick response, you have pointed me to the right direction. It seems that something is wrong with the licenserver: I cant get an online license. It seems that I'm not signed in but there is no option to provide my credentials: ​ Click image for larger version

        Тhanks for sharing torsten_buthmann You could click on the arrow next to Online Licensing and check if the credentials typed in are correct. You could sign out / sign in as well. After each change, please, make sure to go back to Cinema and check if the situation has been resolved.

        If this does not work, please perform a clean re-install by following the steps below for Windows OS:
        • Press 'Windows key', then type in Stop Chaos Unified Login and press 'Enter''.
        • Open Windows Task Manager and ensure ulasupervisor.exe and ula.exe are NOT running.
        • Press 'Windows key', then type in Stop Chaos License Server and press 'Enter'.
        • Open Windows Task Manager and ensure vrol.exe and vrlsupervisor.exe are NOT running.
        • From your Start menu > Control Pane > Programs and Features, uninstall "Chaos Unified Login", and "Chaos License Server".
        • Ensure the following directories and all of their content are removed:
        %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Chaos\UnifiedLogin
        %UserProfile%\%AppData%\Chaos\VRLService
        • Press 'Windows key', type in Credential Manager and press 'Enter'.
        • Choose "Windows Credentials", select ChaosULA:ula, ChaosunifiedLogin:ula, and remove them.
        • Please download and install the latest Chaos license server from our website: here
        • Download and install V-Ray from the provided link: here
        • Make sure you exit the installer cleanly after you sign in - return to the installer, choose telemetry options, click DONE at the last screen. Then start up Cinema
        • Press 'Windows key' , then type in Start Chaos Unified Login and press 'Enter', also type Start Chaos License Server and press 'Enter'
        Please, follow the steps closely and let me know if the situation is resolved once complete.
