  • Endless ocean

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if some of you have been creating an endless ocean with moving waves? I have been working on this, but I am not quite happy with it yet. I am struggling especially with the displacement texture for the waves. I read that some Phonix wave texture can be used, but as far as I know, it is only for Maya. Is this right?
Has anyone of you some idea, what's the best way to do it?

Thanks a lot for you help and have a lovely day

    Hey, Anna,

Indeed, this texture will help you to achieve the ocean result; however, I think you can achieve the same with Cinema Noise Texture, which can be animated, and displacement. Be careful with your RAM, as displacement is RAM-consuming. I think you can get good results with the XPRESSO rig as well.

      Hi boyan,

thanks a lot for your quick answer, but how do I get this texture? That's were I am struggling a little bit, as I thought that it is not available for Vray for Cinema 4D. Or did I understand something wrong. To which XPRESSO rig are you referring?

      Best regards,
      Anna

About Endless ocean. If you have 3DS Max you can do your simulation there. Then export the OpenVDB files into Cinema 4D. Also check out Jangafx liquigen. You can also export these files to Cinema 4D. https://jangafx.com/software/elemental-suite/try They have a free trial for 14 days. It's a little pricey though. One more that is less expensive option is https://plugins4d.com/Product/Hot4D. X-particles by Insydium is also another one to check out. As far as textures Chaos Browser has some water materials under liquids. Hope this helps
