  • Distributed rendering issues with DOF & Nvidia Denoiser

Not sure if this has already been noted, but distributed rendering with either depth of field on, or the NVIDIA de-noiser doesn't work properly. Using VRAY GPU

    Hi scott_canuel ,

we've received the reports for the same issue from other users, but unfortunately most of the scenes don't reproduce on our end. Could you please share the scene, so we can check it? Also, how do you use to activate the DOF, from the camera or from the render settings? Sharing some more information on the machines that you're using for distributed rendering like OS, Graphics Driver version and hardware would be great.
    Thank you for the feedback.

I finally had a chance to do some additional testing. In regards to Depth of field.
DOF activated from camera - Will only render on local machine, will not render on DR machines
DOF activated in override - Will only render on DR machine, will not render on local machine
DOF activated in both override and camera - will render on both local and DR machines.

Now the other weird thing is some issues only exist after the first frame in an animation.
DOF activated from camera - Frame 1 Good, Frame 2 only DOF on local machine
DOF activated in override - Frame 1 NO DOF at all, frame 2 only DOF on DR machine

I've attached a simple C4D scene that I am using for testing.

Using Vray GPU, on windows 10 64bit.

Quadro P6000 and P5000 cards, is there a driver version you recommend for use? Thanks!

        Hello scott_canuel,

I apologize for the delayed reply.

Thank you for those details. Upon testing on my end I managed to reproduce those issues as you described. I have logged this in our system (bug ID: VC4D-915) and I will keep you updated on the matter.

The recommended NVIDIA driver for V-Ray GPU is version 461.09.

            Hello akos_kiss,

I am afraid that we don't have any updates on this issue yet. I have boosted its priority and I will let you know as soon as we have any new information.

The current workaround is to enable the Depth of Field both in the camera and in the Overrides tab of the render settings.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
