  • Rendering with denoiser takes longer

    Hello,
when I render with denoiser on, my render times are longer and the result is not better.
Also with renderfarm and denoiser the rendering is much more expensive and not better.

Isn't the denoiser thought for saving render time?
I am not experienced using denoiser.. so if these are only beginner mistakes...

Have you set the denoiser to take advantage of the hardware acceleration(GPU)? CPU will take significantly more time than GPU when denoising images.
Regardless of the speed I really hope developers will improve denoiser results, in my experience are far worse compared to the 3.7 version.

      I tried both.
Luckily the render times in Vray5 are in total quite good.
I can't see any advantage with the denoiser.
For Animation it is useless it creates irregularities in sharpness, looks washed out sometimes...
and as I mentioned it takes longer..

For animation you should use the standalone denoiser. You need to enable the blending option so that it will consider several frames and you will get smoother results.
