  • high subdivision generates black images

I have a simple scene for you with a plane that will be subdivided 4 times to create a dense mesh for a nice deforming.
Its no problem to render it on the local machine. But with rendering via DR the result is just black (for the slaves). See the image and scene. (subdivision of 3 works fine)

Second question: we got no nightlies from april on and we are still fighting with so many bugs. How are your plans for solving the known issues in the near future?

Any chance this is prep for a sea/lake?

Any chance your slave is going out of memory? Why don’t you just use displacement for that? It will be a lot more efficient compared to static geometry

The reason is, that I have a deformer for great waves and until now I didnt find a shader in that quality for using it as displacement.
The memory usage is very low on all machines.

A few years ago I’ve produced an ocean shader, if needed I can share some details, waves were static but they can be animated as well with a little more work:

Depending on your c4d version I'd recommend hot4d, or spending some time to craft a more complex noise setup, that way animating it would be very easy

thanx guys for the help. hot4d is a deformer as well and would have the same problem.
I already payed for a plugin with animated waves, so I would prefer to use it.

But anyway this seems to be an issue. And there are other reasons to subdived meshes.
              Any comment from chaos group?
