  • Node material in viewport.

I noticed a small problem with node materials and displaying them in viewport. Once again, just like with standard mats, a terrible slowdown appear again.
I noticed it after grouping nodes. After the grouping, the materials are incorrectly displayed in viewport. The material most from the left in material menager is displayed on all meshes.
Clicking on the group hangs C4D for a moment, than material is rerender (or something) and apears in viewport. You can see how long you have to wait for C4D reaction after clicking. It is just with VRAY materials. It's hard to work so unfortunately.
After ungrouping, everything returns to normal.
I would like to use node grouping, but for a moment with those bugs I cant.

    I prepared a scene with a problem.
Here, the most right material is displayed in the material manager.
It only changed that textures are locally in the catalog with the scene. There are also no such slowdies here, but the problem with materials is still. After ungrouping, the materials display returns to normal.

I hope it will help with fixing this.

      Hello Makushimu ,

I apologize for the delayed reply.

I checked your scene and I noticed that the materials are not displayed correctly in the viewport when initially grouped. However, it seems like ungrouping and grouping them back fixes this issue. Additionally, I tried to recreate the node materials from scratch and then group them but the issue was not reproducible. I also tried to do that in a new, fresh scene. Could you please share a recording of your screen while creating the materials so I can see what is your workflow? Thank you.

Regarding the display of node materials.
This seems to be a problem with keeping previous material previews in memmory I gues.
        My workflow:
Each of the objects is saved in a separate scene.
I convert standard materials into nodal ones in those files.
I assemble the main scene by importing a given file containing the desired object.
Then there are problems with the display of textures.
In the movie scene, right after opening the scene (very long loading time for sach simple scene), some textures are not displayed correctly. I fix the display just like in the movie. I save the scene and close it.
After reopening, textures display wrong again.

Maybe this problem is related to the problem indicated here?

          Hello,

          Apologies for the delayed reply.

Can you share more information about how you convert the standard materials into node materials? Are you doing this manually or using a script for that. It seems like this only happens to those converted materials as new node materials with grouped nodes seem to appear correctly in the viewport. Thank you.

I build all node materials from scratch. I don't use any scripts or converters (if there are any.).

              Hello Makushimu,

I convert standard materials into nodal ones in those files.
From this, I thought that you are converting the materials. I recreated your node materials from scratch but I didn't experience any issues with the viewport representation on my end. Can you please send me a video recording of you creating the materials from scratch and then observing the issue in the viewport? Thank you.
