  • Toon / Sketch / Cel shading Distributed Render & C4D crash

    To recreate you

    a) create new project, add Cel shader
    b) switch Project renderer away from Standard to V-Ray
    c) setup Distributed renderer in settings
    d) render

    Check distributed renderer log, you'll see that when Distributed Renderer crashes, it just exits without any visible errors in the Console.

    You'll also encounter C4D crash,

    Code:
    CINEMA_4D_Crash_Report_MACOS
    {
    Call_Stacks
    {
    Call_Stack_Thread_123145437343744
    {
    sketch.xlib: 0x147ad0243 (SP: 0x7000080c51d0, PC: 0x147ad0243)
    I believe, when there's a Sketch & Toon present in Render Settings, if you switch the project to V-Ray, Sketch. & Toon gets hidden VS. getting removed , that causes the crash at some point.

    Hello imdb,

    I have requested access to the shared project files. Please grant me access so I check your scene. Thank you.

        Hello imdb,

        Thank you for providing those files.

        Upon testing your scene I couldn't replicate the crash on my end. I tried both with your scene and creating a new one from scratch but both times the scene was rendered without crashing.

        Could you please share some information about your setup (CPU, GPU, GPU driver version, RAM, the exact versions of V-Ray and Cinema4D, OS)? Also, please send us a recording of your screen where you create the scene from scratch and it crashes after that. Thank you.

          Also, could you open a terminal and execute the following two command lines to check the current file limit per process and process count limits. Please share what is the output once you execute the commands.
          Code:
          ulimit -n
          ulimit -u

              Hello imdb,

              Both values are good so this shouldn't be the reason for the crash. Could you please provide the details, requested in my previous post about your system and a video recording where you create the scene from scratch and it crashes after that. Thanks.
