  • Animated Vector Map Being Ignored

This is in alembic format to illustrate the issue.

Using Vector map to blend between 2 colors.

Bottom object is an alembic, top object is same alembic file converted using 'Current state to object' in C4D. Once the object is converted to static, vector map begins to function. This happens on MacOS V-Ray 5.20 (S24 C4D) and on Standalone Windows Node (V-Ray 5.20).

I've attempted to use GPU, CPU. Sticking the object into Connect Object and it seems like Vector map is not being read.

Which is too bad! I encountered it when I was ready to render out the animation. This makes vector map feature only useful for still shots.

Oddly enough, in the project used to bake this alembic file, local Preview render shows the map w/out any issues. Attempting to send that project to the distributed node however, makes this vector map bug show up.

    Project to test with above.

      Hello imdb

      Sorry for the delayed response.

I tested the issue with the latest stable build for S24 and even over DR the Vector Map is still being displayed correctly. It also works with animations. However, that is only with the “Current state to Object” object.

You can find the latest stable on the following site: https://nightlies.chaosgroup.com/mai...table/20210716

The alembic connect object still doesn’t seem to work properly. We are investigating the issues with alembics and the attribute formats in Cinema 4D.
