  • Vray 5 Not Working with Big Sur Mac

I have Big Sur Mac 11.5.2 and Cinema 4d Crashes every time I open it. The cause is the Vray 5 plugin - is there a fix for this. coming or a workaround for now??

    Hey jami_stewart

It works fine on Big Sur 11.4 on my machine , is this something about the 11.5 update?
I will update to 11.5 when I get a chance, and report here

        Hello jami_stewart,

Can you please share more information about the crash? Do you get any error messages (if yes, please send us a screenshot of the message). Please provide us with a spindump file from the crash. You can find instructions on how to collect this here (in the macOS tab). Also, please share more information about your system: what is your processor (are you using an M1 processor), RAM, and the exact version of Cinema4D and V-Ray. Thank you.

Hi, attached are my system specs. I will get the spindump file for you shortly.

When I open Cinema, after it initializes, the program opens and the viewport is black and I get the spinning pinwheel of death and have to force close the program.

              Hello jami_stewart,

Thank you for providing those details.

Can you also let me know what is the exact version of V-Ray and Cinema4D that you have installed. Please go to the V-Ray menu> Help> About and send me a screenshot of the about window.

Also, could you check if you have a similar directory in your user directory and send the bug report files inside?
              Code:
              ./Library/Preferences/MAXON/Maxon Cinema 4D <version>/_bugreports
where <version> is your Cinema 4D version followed by additional characters. For example, the full directory would be something like:
              Code:
              /Users/username/Library/Preferences/MAXON/Maxon Cinema 4D R23_2FE1299C/_bugreports
              Thank you.

aleksandar.kasabov Hi, I can't open C4d to get the Vray 5 info, but it is your latest release for Mac.. the newest version. Cinema 4d version is 24.111

I checked but I do not have a directory for bug reports.

You surely have a directory for preferences/bug report, if Cinema doesn't start remove Vray (or other plugin), go to C4D Preferences and on the bottom of the dialog click on Open Preference Folder, there you will find the bug report folder.

It’s the same directory, but probably it’s easier to get there using the C4D preferences
