  • Vray 5 Gpu denoise error

when i render at big resolution( 5000x5000) with vray gpu RTX rendering ( bucket or progressive) and nvidia ai denoiser the denoise calculation don’t start.
Can the few vram (8gb) generate this ussue? How many vram is suggested at these resolution?

    Hey,

Could try with an external denoiser tool, this will give you the freedom to choose? Do you have enough RAM to proceed with this high-res image?

Yes. But not enough for the denoise pass in my opinion.

        anto3d79 Hello!

The AI denoiser will use a lot of GPU memory with this massive resolution, this is expected to happen.
Do you have another GPU to use for denoising ?
Have you tried V-Ray's denoiser, it uses much less memory overall and produces great results

          Hi,
          Yes i have 2x rtx 3070.
I don't know how to assign only one for the denoise. So i solved with mode: "Only generate render elements", and calculate it when the work is finished. Works fine in this way.

We are working on a new UI which allows the user to control the device used for denoising/rendering separately
In the meantime, the workaround you used should do the trick. Or there is an environment variable to select the denoiser device, let me know if you need that
