  • V-Ray new proxies

Hey guys did you experience some issues when you create new proxies?
I wonder because i get more success exporting to Alembic files rather Vrmesh.
    - first is the time to export. export to vrmesh takes ages (its a pine tree and i can send you the scene) but exporting to abc is almost instantly (if we don't have animations)
    - second when we export to vrmesh we can not export properly the selection tag materials. even we have all the materials separated by polygon. In abc file still have the issue of the materials but at least export a empty material so we can replace by the correct one (need for that to be in the original file to push the original materials)
    - third when we fix this issues and when we import to a new scene and start rendering, the Vrmesh takes ages to start rendering and with the Abc file is almost instantly...
    - fourth .. not so important but the abc proxy file takes 137mb and the vrmesh proxy file takes 194mb

    do you experience the same?
    thanks
    best regards
    nuno

ps- i can upload the scene but needs to be via PM because are bought objects
ps- here's a small video to show the difference and issues i'm facing... maybe i'm doing all wrong... almost 5 minutes to create a vrmesh proxy :/ https://www.dropbox.com/t/tRI0t5wqMhBYWk8W

dito here.. vrmesh feels very slow and bugy. it also exports without materials here... the workaround with the abc file i didn't know. i will testing it, thanks
another option is the xref from cinema4d. trees saved as c4d file and then import as xref.

hey guys did you saw this issue? also the ABC export is very strange dealing with materials...
maybe you can do some kind of explanation about creating new proxie objects? or confirming this is a bug?
      thanks

        Hello nunomatos,

I apologize for the delayed reply.

Upon testing on my end I didn't see much difference in the export times for proxy and alembic files. In fact, exporting the proxy was faster. Would you mind sharing your scene so I can have a look? Also, please specify the exact versions of V-Ray, Cinema4D and your OS.

Thanks and once again, apologies for the delay.

Hi aleksandar.kasabov apologies for the late answer
In fact after the last update build i've made some tests exporting and all becomes faster and with the materials added into the original scene, so all becomes the same as I do before in 3.xx version
for now is solved so thank you
