Hi!
Since updating to the latest stable release, we are experiencing a bunch of crashes with various c4d file that were working fine before the update. C4D just closes without any prompt or notification. The crash is not limited to the file but all the files opened. The scene is nothing fancy but we mostly have 8-10k textures (about 80 materials, in the scene but not all used or visible) but with Low polycount. The materials are standard vray materials (ie.: Not node materials!) And it is not feasible to remake them as node materials. I know that this issue is cause by the material preview, because one core usage spikes, and if i disable the "render material preview" option in vray settings the file doesn't crash. If i disable the preview, the file renders fine, but if i re-enable itt and just leave it. The file will crash after about 10 sec.
This issue is not limited to one machine, but multiple pc-s. And it caused this crash on different project files.
we are runing win 10 machines, latest updates, cinema 4d R25 latest updates, vray version 5.20.03
