  • V-Ray stores textures locally in the roaming folder

    Hi,

when we use our texture assets in Cinema 4D R25, they will be copied to user folder under roaming. Since we use additional servers for our assets, is this a waste of disk space. Is there a setting that can prevents this?

Hi h_meier, are you using these assets from a shared asset library or c4d library? If yes - this is a limitation that currently is not customizable, but we may improve this in the future by providing a preference option for location for temporary or shared assets.

    Edit:
Just to provide additional information - in order to use the textures, V-Ray needs the file accessible as a standard file. Such temporary textures are saved in the roaming data, when the current project is untitled (temporary) - if you save your C4D document (thus having a project path), these textures should be created in the project directory.

Thank you for your quick response. Yes, we are using a shared asset library and working on many projects that sometimes using 30 of the same textures, saving them in each project will create a lot of redundant data. We're hoping for a quick solution for this.
