  • Cinema R25 (latest built) Convert scen from Vray 3.7 to Vray 5 (material works), to Vray 6 (material won't work)

    Hi!

I upgrade one computer to Vray 6.0 yesterday and opened an old object that was made for Vrayforc4d 3.7, and all materials goes black and settingsview is empty. Switch back to Vray 5.0 and then the material was converted. Is there a bug with Vray 6.0 converter from 3.7? Or is it a problem with just my computer?

I'm using latest update of Cinema R25.

    /Tobias

    Hello TurboG,

Have you tried to manually open the converter and convert the scene? You can do that by going to the V-Ray menu> Tools> Convert V-Ray 3 scene. Then a popup window should appear with options for the conversion. Please let me know if that helps with your scene.

        Hello TurboG,

Thank you for the info. Do you get any error messages or warnings when you try to convert the scene? Also, would you mind sharing the scene in question so we can have a look? Thank you.

I make a simple scen in 3.7 now with 2 simple Vray materials (diffuse channel with only texture and a specular channel) and that scene open without errors, empty material though. But after run convert tool manually the materials work.

It's objects from Evermotion made in Vray 3.x I try to open in Vray 6.0.

            Hello TurboG,

Thank you for the provided details.

Please note that this is a known bug that has already been reported to our developers (bug ID: VC4D-1558 ). I will make sure to link this thread to the report and I will let you know once we have more information.

The current workaround to this bug would be to convert the scene using V-Ray 5 and then open it with V-Ray 6. Thank you for your understanding.

That page was empty, I can't see any category for Vray 6 for Cinema (only Vray 5), latest built for Vray 6 are only Rhino, Sketchup, 3ds and Maya? Securitysettings on your site that is wrong with that directory (V-Ray 6 for Cinema 4d)?

Unfortunately our nightly server requires explicit logout and login to update the access permissions. Could you also try doing that?

Same here, but I found the latest build at the very top.
Maybe this helps until the folders are fixed

                            Hi guys,

You should now see another folder, called V-Ray 6 for Cinema 4D - stable on the nightlies page, which should include all stable builds. Keep in mind that you might need to log out and log back in in order to see the changes. Let me know if you can access the stable builds now. Thank you.
