  • MACOS 13 Ventura - [ERROR] Error initializing V-Ray: Instantiation error.

    Successfully initialized V-Ray 6 for Cinema 4D (API 2023.000, runtime 2023.000, V-Ray version: 6.00.01, revision: 8c427a58, build date: Sep 26 2022)
[ERROR] Error initializing V-Ray: Instantiation error.

I did a very silly thing and updated my MBP 16" to MACOS 13 which seems to not work well with V-Ray 6 or previous versions. Wish I didn't have downgrade my OS. Any idea when there will be updates that resolves this?

    Hello t.j.cianciolo,

Could you please try uninstalling V-Ray and then installing it again to see if that will help? Also, please try to rename your preferences directory temporarily, to see if there is a problem with your preferences. You can find your preferences folder by clicking on the Preferences Folder button in the Preferences window. Let me know if any of those suggestions help.

Hello all. I have the same problem. I bought an new laptop with m2 prozessor and try to use the same software as before, vray 6 an Cinema 4D R23. But Vray is not visible. seems that cinema 4d is not scaning the plugins folder at all. I tried to reinstall everthing, differentversions, nothing helps... Any ideas?

Hi maurin_prro , can you try using a newer Cinema 4D version than R23? The problem is that R23 is the first that runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1 and M2 processors), but unfortunately there were several major problems for plugins with R23, so the first V-Ray for Cinema 4D version that supports the Apple Silicon architecture natively is V-Ray for Cinema 4D S24.
If you do need to use exactly R23, you would need to run Cinema 4D in Rosetta emulation mode to properly load the V-Ray for Cinema 4D plugin.
