  • Subdivision surface - viewport setting ignored in interactive rendering

    Hi!

I'm having an issue with the subdivision surface. I have a really heavy soft body sim and a subdivision surface generator is on top of it, but i turned down the viewport subdivisions to get better performance and turned up the render time subdivisions. As far as i can tell the interactive rendering simply ignores the render time subdivisions and uses the viewport settings. I was wondering if this will change in the future? It would be great for optimizing the viewport while having the final results visible during interactive rendering. Anny suggestions to resolve this issue would be highly appreciated!

    Hello vajda_zoltan,

    Apologies for the delayed reply.

Please note that this is expected behavior as for Interactive rendering, V-Ray gets the viewport object cache. If you want to have more subdivisions during Interactive rendering you can use the V-Ray Subdivision inside the V-Ray Geometry tag. More about that can be found here.

Additionally, using V-Ray Subdivision would be faster and more memory efficient.
