  • Colour inaccuracy old version vs new version

    Hi

Can anyone kindly advise why colours are completely inaccurate with new version Cinema 4d 2023 - Vray 6, whereas older versions colours made sense.

A little hard to explain in writing. Please view attached jpeg.

And all previous work files prior to latest versions of Cinema 4D and Vray 6 are now unusable and has to be rebuild/relighting...FFS

    Thanks in advance.

You can check a couple of things:

-shaders now have global illumination turned on by default and the look maybe a bit brighter, if that's the case just go material preview, override preferences, disable GI
-for some reasons (at least on older builds) some of my scenes opened using Cinema4D OCIO by default, be sure to go to project settings, color management, select basic, linear workflow, sRGB

      Hey,

Thank you for the post, bern_diener,

      Agree with sirio76.

We added an option because if you have a SSS translucent mode with V-Ray Mtl without the option enabled, the preview of the material will be black, which is not user-friendly.

Thank you, sirio76, for the response!

      Cheers,

      Boyan

Hi bern_diener, as sirio76 mentioned, the built-in OCIO color management is not yet supported. It was introduced in Cinema 4D 2023 and to keep the result consistent with previous versions, the old sRGB profile has to be used. By your provided screenshots, I think that is the main culprit for the changed appearance.

          Hi,

Thank you for your direction. Deyan, I think you took me to the right place.

I disabled OpenColourIO and set it to Basic. Its a lot more accurate now, but I'll have to test it on a working project.
