  • 6.00.03 - having many issues

Hi, I installed a new hotfix 6.00.03 issued yesterday... I managed to work on it for quite a short time but having so many issues, it is challenging to produce a render and move on:
    - C4D crashes while rendering
    - C4D crashes when stopping the render in VFB and trying to save the image
    - double camera icon (sometimes)
    - double Vray setting in render settings (see attached - What's the difference?)
    - Spherical camera at 360 rendering OK while interactive, but rendering gray area when set to render the final image

Hi lukas_kostka, can you provide some details on the issues you are experiencing? Some general questions:
    1. What version of Cinema 4D you are using and which operating system?
    2. Are you using V-Ray or V-Ray GPU? And if it is V-Ray GPU, are you using CUDA or RTX?
    3. Do you have a crash report (or minidump) that you can share so we may investigate what went wrong?
    4. What was the last V-Ray version you were using before upgrading to 6.00.03?

    And some specific questions:
    - C4D crashes while rendering
Does the crash occur randomly, or it happens after you do something? Is this during interactive rendering, or it is final render? If it is final - is it inside Picture Viewer, VFB or Viewport?

    - double camera icon (sometimes)
Can you show a screenshot of the icon in question?

    - double Vray setting in render settings (see attached - What's the difference?)
Does this happen on a new scene or when you open an existing one?

    - Spherical camera at 360 rendering OK while interactive, but rendering gray area when set to render the final image
Can you provide a simplified scene reproducing the issue?

Apart from the questions above, can you also try to temporarily rename your preferences directory to see if resetting the preferences changes the behavior?

      Hi Deyan,

I'm on MacBook Pro M1, with Cinema R26.014, I am not using V-ray GPU, and have no crash report. Before upgrading, I had Vray6 the first version.

I already downgraded back to the first version of Vray6 that I was working on before.
But something about the scenes I am working on is still messed up even after downgrading.
These are existing scenes I was working on in Vray6. And they were perfectly OK just yesterday before the upgrade.

I do not see the issues on a new scene, but I must say I did not have enough time to test a new scene.

Anyway even after downgrading the Vray somehow misinterprets my scenes, since when I want to open a scene I was working on in Vray6 just two days before, it interprets the scene as 3.7 and asks about the conversions - see attached. Then it is automatically saved with the Vray5 prefix (scene_name_Vray5). Those scenes are messed up as I wrote. I just can't continue working on them.

A crash occurred when I left the render overnight - after I came back C4D was down. Then it crashed also when I tried rendering final render again, then stopped it before finishing and wanted to save it. Crashed before saving. Every time inside VFB.
This issue is continuing to happen even after installing Vray6 before the hotfix! after trying to stop the final render of spherical camera or any standard camera the cinema again crashes imediately after pushing the save button. With render unsaved.

The double cam icon still appears in freshly "converted"/opened scenes. See attached.

Rendering with spherical cam is also still a problem - see attached - difference redering interactive prev and final render.

I just can't grasp what is happening, everything seems broken to me. Those are the scenes that were fine two days ago with Vray6.

It really seems like something broke in your installation. There are several things we can try to solve the issue:
        1. Can you try renaming your preferences directory to force Cinema 4D to generate new preferences? You can open your preferences directory by opening preferences (Edit -> Preferences), and then hitting "Preferences Folder" button in the bottom.
        2. If this doesn't help - can you completely removing V-Ray, Cinema 4D and the preferences directory and installing them anew?
        3. Can you share one of the problematic/corrupted scenes on a private message so I could take a look at them?

I also have similar problems with 6.00.03. I'm going back to previous versions because reinstalling didn't help.
