  • GPU-Rendering: After about 20 frames rendering abort with message "loading bitmap". After that Cinema is frozen.

Hi, I have a file that stops rendering with the message "loading bitmap" if I use GPU rendering. After that I have to restart Cinema.
Sometimes it's 20 frames, sometimes 30. There is no error-message. Does anybody has an idea what's the problem? The scene is not very complex. Can it be a RAM-problem with the GPU-card? HDRI (82 MB) too big for GPU (GTX 1070 TI)?

Attached I send the last messages of logfile.

    Cheers
    Tobias

    Hello steilvorlage.de,

From the log I can see that you are using Cosmos assets in your scene. We have similar reports from other users (this has also been discussed here) and our developers are looking into this issue (bug ID: VC4D-1553). I will let you know once we have any updates.

      Hi Alexandar,

you are right. I swaped the textures from Cosmos and then it worked. But I think the problem is not only Cosmostextures. If you see the new logfile you can see that Vray took 10 minutes to load the "roughFarbe.png" - it is in the lokal subfolder of the c4d-file. This issue came after around 90 frames of rendering. I set the max. rendertime to 5 minutes. This worked for 90 frames and then it changed to 15 minutes.

      [20:04:24.050] Uploading texture "HDRI - Industrial Warehouse Interior 11 - 8192x4096 - HDR.hdr" (idx=5) tile[0][0] at mip 0, 8192x4096, channels 3, 196608KB
      [20:04:24.057] Uploading texture "roughFarbe.png" (idx=2) tile[0][0] at mip 0, 4096x4096, channels 1, 16384KB
      [20:14:19.359] Uploading texture "a16696_Metal_4k_raw.tx" (idx=3) tile[0][0] at mip 0, 4096x4096, channels 1, 16384KB

Thanks for the information Tobias, could it be something about this specific texture?
Could you please share your scene setup with us?
If we reproduce on our side I will make sure this gets fixed

        Best,

Hi Muhammed, I don't think, that it is a problem with the texture, because the first 90 frames there was no problem with loading the same. Do you have a nother idea?
I can't share the file here because of copyrights of my client.

          Cheers

Thanks a lot. Is it a bugfix between Vray and Cosmos? Because the issue happends with local textures, too, but later. And it is only Vray 6? Is there any further support/updates for Vray 5?

                Hello steilvorlage.de,

This should help with any .tx textures, not only those, coming with Chaos Cosmos.

And it is only Vray 6? Is there any further support/updates for Vray 5?

For now, we are not planning to bring this into V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D. We will let you know if we decide otherwise.
