  • Projectscale and lights?

    Hi!

I'm not sure if I missed something. In Vray 3.7 we could set the scale in Vray settings so it matches the project scale in Cinema. We often work in millimeter as our scale in Cinema. When we import HDRI from Cosmos the render goes WHITE, we need to decrease intensity to < 0.1 to get it normaly. Today I started a fresh project and don't change the projectscale to mm, so it is in centimeter. I'm importing an HDRI from cosmos and the brightness are perfect. Intensity at 1.0... So I think we are missing something or there is some bugs in the projectunit between Cinema 4d and Vray 6 when it comes to light?

    Anyone that knows whats wrong?

    /Tobias

    Hello TurboG

Please, be aware that the Cosmos HDRIs are created to work by default with the V-Ray Physical Camera. Please, refer to the video-recording: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...7_16-23-37.mp4

From your question I assume you do not use V-Ray Physical Camera. Is there a specific reason for that? I would highly advise using it as it works best with V-Ray and other V-Ray features.

        Hello viktor_angelov

I'm using V-ray Physical Camera, everything works as it should as long as Cinema 4d projectscale are in cm. But when I changed projectscale to mm HDRI's gets much brighter. It seams to be 10 times brighter. So an box 100x100cm with a light 200cm above get around 10times brighter if the box are 1000x1000mm and light 2000mm above. It looks like every light works the same, not only HDRI lights.

          Hi TurboG,

Using correct units is essential when using the V-Ray Physical Camera. The light automatically takes the scene's unit scale into consideration to produce the correct result for the scale you are working with.
