  • Several issues with animation workflow

    Hi,

I'm having several issues with the animation workflow.

I use to render all the frames in .vrimg format with the denoiser set to only generate render elements mode and then apply the denoiser using the standalone tool, this is important since it can blend the denoiser result using several frames and is much more convenient than apply the denoiser during the rendering.

For some reason the workflow that I've used until last year is not working anymore. I get this error:

Name:	Screenshot 2024-07-04 alle 17.26.01 copy.jpg
Views:	174
Size:	321.8 KB
ID:	1211611

I tried using both the Intel and the default denoiser on both single frame and frame sequences but I always get error messages.

The vrimg to exr tool that I use to import exr frame sequences in to Nuke is not available anymore when I install the software, luckily I had a version from an old Vray. This should be installed by default since most software don't read .vrimg files.

Not animation related but I noticed that img2tiledexr is not working, it just opens a tiny window that you can not expand.

As a side note, as Mac user I would add that is extremely annoying to use the denoise tool via command line (even when it works), many of my students do not even consider the possibility to use the standalone since they are looking for a simpler solution. If you are not willing to consider a Mac GUI tool, maybe you can consider to add some of the functionality to the Batch image processing of the VFB.

I'm using the latest Vray build on MacOS 13.0.1, C4D R2023, MacStudio Ultra.

    Hello sirio76,

We are aware of this problem and will soon provide a fix. As a temporary workaround, you can replace the vdenoise.bin file with the one attached, or use the vdenoise.bin file from an older version of V-Ray where everything was working properly. Simply navigate to Applications/Maxon Cinema 4D <version>/plugins/V-Ray/tools and swap the existing vdenoise.bin with the provided one.
