  • How to Get clean grass edges with Chaos Scatter

    Hi,

    I saw a Video from Chaos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ifqk...wJd0l&index=33
This is exactly want I would like to have, but in cinema 4D V-ray doesn't exist?

This option "Edge trimming" is really nice.
Where I can find on V-ray for C4D?

    Best regards

This option is not available yet, there're several options to get a nice result.
I usually do like this, I subdivide the grass surface, select the border with soft selection, move dawn the polygons a tiny bit. This way you will avoid the intersection of the grass with other solids.

You can also use the Vray Clipper tool but I think is less convenient, especially with large scenes.

        此功能可能需要在 VRay 7 上实现

            Hello, all,

I want to thank you for all your reports.

You can use spline to control where we would like geometry. This method is more flexible and easy to control.

You can also create curves from your geometry by using the Edge to Spline command.

            Cheers,

The problem is that in many situations you will end up with something like this, a proper trimming tool would be much better

Even when using spline ore polygon selections, you will never get a nice trimmed edge, after all the edge trimming tool exist for this very reason
Vray for Max already have this feature https://www.linkedin.com/posts/chaos...06924032-gM_W/ and even Corona for C4D https://docs.chaos.com/display/CRC4D...rimming+Shader

                    Hi boyan,

                    Thanks for your reply.
I used already this method, but is no so practical. The automatic trim would be better.

I am a fresh v-ray user, a student, and when I see Corona and 3Dstudio using advance tools that I as a C4D user cannot use, is a huge frustration.
The best solution is to release the tools for all softwares at the same time, and not make feel us as underdogs. Or the V-ray for C4D is cheaper than the others?

V-ray for Corona has Trim Edges, Edit instances and Chaos scatter Lister
V-ray for 3D Studio has Trim Edges, and I suppose they have the other two as well.
                    V-ray for Cinema 4D???

Like I said, I am a Student and my colleges also, and we are testing V-ray, as a potential tools for our professional live.
But Chaos Scatter in Vray for C4D is not so advanced, and I started now, so I have no idea what another situation I will find similar like this.

Seems not so relevant, but to clean grass about the concrete, or pathways gives work in post, when the V-ray have an automatic tool for that, but... I cannot use.

                    Best regards
                    Christina

I agree. We need a better way to trim the scattered assets. Mark me as +1 for a working trim edges feature for chaos scatter. Hopefully, we see it soon.
