  • Very weird bug with SSS / Thin Walled Tree leaves near camera

Hi, the render is turning black when a tree with SSS material on it is near the camera, but the camera is not inside the tree mesh. Instead of a long description here is a screen record to demonstrate the problem. It tooks several hours to the team to find out what's going wrong and how to fix it. I can't believe it's the intended VRay behavior, could the dev fix it properly please?

    The screen record: https://www.swisstransfer.com/d/a94f...2-878a4469c7ff

      Hey, F2B,

Thank you for the post and scene file. Could you please check something for me? Select the leaf material (please check that you have 3 polygon selections). Copy the diffuse texture and add it to the opacity slot; please check the result.

      Cheers

Hi f2b We are currently investigating the matter. What we assume is that the geometry is causing it. Could you, please, let me know where did you get the geometry from? Did you build it yourself?

Meanwhile as a workaround you could try changing the VRayMTL >Refraction > Color > V from 1% to 0%. Do this on materials 61, 62, 63, 70 and let me know if this resolves the issue.

Hello Viktor, the geometry comes from 3Dsky: https://3dsky.org/3dmodels/show/phoenix_reclinata_palm

Indeed, i confirm that setting up refraction color value to 0 , issue dissapear

Š¢hank you for letting me know, f2b I hope you are able to continue like that with the value being 0. We will continue the investigation and if there're any news I will make sure to contact you.
