  • Vray7 Scatter, Edge Trimming

Hi, edge trimming (grass with new Cosmos objects) doesn't work at production rendering. There are no problems in the preview renderings! LG Harry

    Hi HarrySeidl
Are you using the latest V-Ray 7 hotfix? There was a fix specifically about edge trimming with cosmos objects. Note that your previously imported cosmos objects should work with edge trimming after updating. If you are using the latest release could you provide a scene where this is reproducible?

Hello, yes, I have the latest version. It may also take an extremely long time for large scenes. Sometimes it works, sometimes - same scene - it gives an error message that Scatter has a problem. LG Harry

        Hey, Harry,

Thank you for the reports. Could you please help us reproduce the issue locally and provide us the scene or at least part of the scene? I appreciate your help. By the way, what are your hardware specifications?

        Cheers,

                Hey, Harry.

The issue is logged to our bug-tracking system. However, I would like to inform you that there is a workaround which could speed up your render time. Select all Cosmos objects and press "C" button twice. Render the scene and let me know about the result.

                Cheers,

Hello, I've now tried this workflow - I'm now partially losing the materials! Do you have the problem too? LG Harry

                      Hey, Harry,

Well, download it again with the Download Cosmos asset option, and next select all Cosmos objects and double press "C.". Do not delete the corresponding null to them as materials are linked to it; otherwise, you should relink the materials to specific polygon selection which could be a time-consuming process. If you can not see the textures, you can relink it with help of Project Asset Manager

                      Cheers

                        Hey, Harry,

The fix is added to the latest stable so you can render with cosmos assets or proxies as well.

                        Cheers,
