I'm rendering an animation using the Progressive Sample Type, with a maximum render time of 10 minutes. Curiously, not all frames take the same time to render. Some take 10 minutes, but others take 1, 2 or 3 minutes. This never happened before. Very strange. Frames that take less time to render are very grainy and not usable. If I render those indivudually, they take 10 minutes and are fine. Any idea what,s going on here ?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but based on your note that this hasn’t happened before, I would assume the issue only occurs with one specific scene. If that’s the case, could you please provide the following so we can investigate further:- The Cinema 4D version you're using
- The V-Ray version
- The scene file in which the issue is reproducible

Hi it_refplus, upon checking your render settings - I think the problem might be caused by the high value you are using for noise limit. The value of 0.1 is considered high and may be suitable for fast previews, but for final rendering you should use much lower values (e.g. 0.01 or 0.005, maybe even lower). Raising the Min samples in your case workarounds the issue by increasing the minimum amount of samples, but that may lead to oversampling (which basically means samples may be spent on areas that do not need more samples, and you may have undersampled areas which may remain "noisy").
