  • ACES Workflow in V-Ray5 fpr Cinema4D

    Hi,

I wonder if it is planned to support the ACES Workflow in V-Ray5 fpr Cinema4D ?
Is this already on the todo list?

    Hello index,

AcesCG support is on our to-do list and will be implemented in the future. I will let you know once we have updates on the matter. Thank you.

+1 This is really needed! Most major render engines like arnold, octane and redshift have this feature in c4d and its really great for production pipeline.

It seems crazy that even with the recent improvments to C4D that Maxon haven't created native implemenation of OCIO for developers to utilize. Maya had this years ago...

This is a much needed feature and a bit of a deal breaker (currently trialing a vray for c4d licence). Are you guys working on a work around for OCIO in C4D? Is it available in nightlies?

          Hello,

This lack of native C4D implementation of OCIO didn't stop the developers really, Arnold and Redshift are examples they both support ACES in C4D and it works very well
Same for 3Ds Max, it doesn't have any native OCIO controls and yet Vray has its own workflow for ACES, it works nicely
Vray 5 core has all the ACES controls and transforms without the need of OCIO, I guess for Vray C4D it is just about having the UI for those ACES controls. It might not be hard to implement ?
Will need an RGB primaries drop down menu in the file node, and an option for Color management in settings or under color mapping.

I agree that this feature is very important, and now I use ACES in Vray C4D, having to do the conversion for textures manually which is not ideal.. it just gets the job done

          Best,

          Muhammed

            Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. Adding support for ACEScg is in our to-do list but I cannot provide a specific timeframe when it will be implemented. I will update this thread as soon as we have more information. Thank you for your patience.
