  • Lens Effect obstacle image from Object ID selection alpha

    Hi

In latest project I found out that it would be very helpful to choose an alpha for the lens effect - which is great in some areas, but often adds strong glows/lenses to shiny materials or reflection which we don't want.
If the obstacle image could use currents image object ID alpha/filter, we could nicely eliminate unwanted glows from the image.

Used especially for animation, where even post-production edit can be hard because big lens effects from unwanted objects obscure the image.

Is this possible? Or is there a method to exclude some objects from lens effect?

    Hi RwVision ,

do you mean using a obstacle image to shape the lens effects or complete exclude certain object from generating flare/glare?

Complete exclusion of selected objects OR using for it alpha layer from previously set render elements passes.

Simple example where I have those nice lenses from spot lights on stadium, but some bench / table reflections catch them also at certain angle, creating not wanted, same style lenses.

Also, I think that lenses should be available in this form for multiple stack use in VFB - strobe, colorful lens on lights where needed, 2nd lens effect which is only a slight glow on other objects + 3rd glow lens on entire image or another objects.
It's a powerful tool, sadly limited to one, entire image.

          Hi RwVision,

          Thank you for your thoughts.

I will forward the idea to our developers for discussion, however, we can't guarantee that something like that will be implemented. I will let you know if we have any updates on the matter. Thanks.
