  • Interactive respone to rotating HDRI and changing sliders in materials ( like roughness, color etc)

It would be great to have this, because everytime i try to rotate the hdri, or editing a material like changing the contrast of a roughness map i have to wait VFB to restart it cannot do it interactively like in redshift or octane. Its important to every mode but especially CUDA+RTX.

    thanks, Lev

    Hello gyulai_levente,

Could you please elaborate some more on this query? The interactive renderer will account for any changes in the HDRIs or materials and will update accordingly. Sharing some examples would be very helpful. Thank you.

There is definitely something wrong there, that scene should be way faster even on a very slow system. I'll upload a video example in a minute.

Here is a test scene like yours: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ha2ha51uoh...20IPR.mp4?dl=0
I don't have an Nvidia GPU so in my test I use the CPU running the CUDA RTX code that is much slower than using a real graphic card.

I have the exact same speed no problems with that, im using the cpu mode in the test vid.

Here the same scene in CPU mode is faster than running the CUDA RTX mode.
Regarding the slider, I see your point. That's how it works, you don't see a refresh until you release the slider. If this can help when you use the node material system you can see the change interactively inside the shader preview.

                  Hello gyulai_levente,

Thanks for the video, definitely helped me understand what you mean.

Please note that this was recently brought mentioned as feedback on our Beta forum section and Ivan Shaykov replied. Check the thread here. I will also post his reply below:

There are a few technical reasons why we don't do updates during the value change, but is something that we're looking in to improving. It's best to implement the Viewport Interactive rendering before doing any changes here. Btw when you have a Live link with Chaos Vantage we already do updates during a value change not on mouse button release.

If you rotate the dome light from the Axis in the viewport not from the parameters in the coordinates tab, it should update with the mouse movement. You can also do this if you drag and drop the R.H parameter to the viewport as a quick control.
There are some technical limitations to why we can't do this everywhere. Let me know if the workaround helps.
