We've just released V-Ray 6, Update 1
The builds are available for download on the Chaos website.
Key features highlights:
Bump to Glossiness — Effortlessly achieve the right glossiness for normal-mapped surfaces, regardless of the viewing distance, and say goodbye to excessive shine on your characters’ skin!
Custom Light Decay — Gain control over the emission of light as it travels across distances. With the Custom Light Decay option, you now have the creative freedom to achieve any lighting effect.
Cylindrical decal — Apply stickers, labels, and various surface effects onto cylindrical objects such as bottles, rockets, tanks, and more. Match the Decal projection to the surface curvature in just a few clicks.
Decal additive bump — Blend surface and decal bumps to achieve incredibly realistic stickers, labels, embossed lettering, and many other surface effects.
Enhanced procedural clouds — Achieve even more breathtaking skies with new customization options to set the density, darkness, and patterns of your clouds. Add contrails for detail.
Transfer data between applications — Exchange USD data from Autodesk Maya and 3ds Max to Houdini, and vice versa. Assets will look identical, regardless of the software used. No need for any manual conversions.
Even more profiling data — Gain insights into how much time it takes to export a scene, compile geometry and displacement, load bitmaps, and more. Plus, customize your reports’ level of detail.
Faster time to first pixel in Solaris — Through optimizations in geometry compilation for static meshes and hair, we’ve more than halved the average time to first pixel — and reached an impressive seven-fold increase in some cases.
NVIDIA AI Denoiser upscaling — Our integration of NVIDIA's latest AI Denoiser offers the potential to accelerate your rendering process by up to threefold. Boost your look dev and generate previews faster.
V-Ray Light Material post-processing — Explore different looks for the self-illuminating objects in your scenes even after rendering has finished. Modify V-Ray Light Materials using Light Mix and Light Select.
Masking support for post effects — Decide what objects to apply lens effects to and which ones to blur, sharpen, or even denoise — all without re-rendering.
And many more...
You can find the What's New page in the V-Ray for Houdini documentation.
