  • V-Ray 7 for Houdini, now available

    We've just released V-Ray 7 for Houdini
The builds are available for download on the Chaos website.

    Key features highlights:

    [Initial implementation] New Volumetric Shader
Easily create and customize complex volumetric shaders for clouds, smoke, and magical effects, and render them up to x6 times faster.

    Extended MaterialX support
You can now create and render most MtlX procedural textures, including noises, patterns, and randomization options.

    Easier toon shading
Create stylized, non-photorealistic renders with minimal effort with the new, redesigned toon shading workflow in V-Ray for Solaris.

    Gaussian splats support
Place your characters and assets within real contexts, or create and render complex 3D environments with enhanced accuracy at record speed.

    Firefly removal
This new algorithm reduces the time needed to produce final images by automatically detecting and eliminating overly bright pixels, known as fireflies, during rendering.

    Open Image Denoiser update
Experience sharper, more refined renders with greater efficiency thanks to added support for the latest Open Image Denoiser version 2.3.0, and a new prefilter pass.

    Chaos Cosmos support in Solaris
Quickly populate your environments with ready-to-render 3D assets, including stones, vegetation, and other essential props. Plus, the library also includes high-quality models, materials, and HDRIs.

    Light Path Expressions for shadows
You can now isolate shadows and break down how they interact with the scene, giving you even greater creative freedom in compositing.

Even better V-Ray Sun & Sky
Create more realistic still images and immersive animations with the improved PRG sky model, which now supports nautical twilight and more.

    V-Ray GPU: Caustics support
V-Ray GPU now supports Caustics, enabling realistic reflections and refractions in both production and interactive rendering.

V-Ray GPU: Faster time to first pixel
Experience even better interactive rendering with faster time to first pixel, thanks to optimizations in rendering scatter and texture-heavy scenes.

V-Ray GPU: Even faster animation rendering
Render image sequences up to 50% faster in some cases thanks to more efficient caching of bitmaps between animation frames, further speeding up the rendering process.

    V-Ray GPU: Out-of-core textures
Render texture-heavy scenes even more efficiently without sacrificing shading quality.

V-Ray GPU: Up to 3X faster on MacBooks
Support for New Metal triples rendering performance when using both the GPU and CPU sides of Apple M4 processors while doubling performance on M3 processors

    And more.
