  • Congrats on official release!

Congratulations to the team for the first official release!
Just saw the notification and watched the launch video on Youtube. I have been testing the beta for few weeks now, and my experience has been very good!
I really think VFH is one of the best Vray plugins, Vray for Modo has been my favorite for years but now there is a strong contender
The IPR and shading workflows are probably my favorite features so far.
Will buy my license this week, and will see what deals we can get for our office licenses.
I only see rental options on the website though, Are there perpetual options?
Won't be a deal breaker, but I would much rather having perpetual licenses.

    Best,
    Muhammed

You could contact our sales team just in case, but AFAIK only rental options are available.

Sent an Email already! will see how it goes
I understand the investment Chaos put into this plugin, still bummer licenses are only rental
V-ray has been the only renderer that doesn't require any kind of rental or maintenance..Being perpetual was one of many advantages of V-ray compared to others.. Just my humble view

Came here just for this. Our reseller just told us there's only a rental option available which is a major bummer! And online licensing only as well. No dongle option. I really hope this is not the case..
Please let us know what the sales team says!

About online licensing, I don't really mind that.. you can always borrow your licenses offline using license server 5.1.2
            This works nicely here
got a reply from sales, and yeah it is only rental, which is disappointing. It seems like all new products are rental. Vray for Houdini, Vray for Unreal and Vray for C4D..
We will still invest heavily in VFH for our pipeline, but I really hoped that they offer perpetual licenses just like Max, Maya, Modo..
This was a massive advantage for V-ray, which never required maintenance or rental...Now something like Redshift is better on this front.

I too am really bummed out about there only being a rental option for VFH. Hopefully a perpetual license and the option to upgrade to perpetual for people who purchased a rental license will be added.
              Cheers,
              Oliver

I hope so too. For now I only need one Houdini license, so I can host my own license, but our server farm has a strict no-outgoing connection policy. So any license system based on internet connections is a no-go for us. It's easier to go another route than to try persuade IT to open up, haha.

+1 for perpetual license. I'm using Octane with Houdini but would probably shift to vray.
