Stable Nightlies

Hello!

Are you guys going to update the stable builds for Houdini regularly?
Similar to the stable nightlies for Max or Maya, not on daily basis..maybe every few weeks that would be great

I'm not using the daily builds anymore in production, it is not safe for what I do(not complaining about that, they are nightly builds after all)
in the stable folder I'm seeing only 2 builds, most recent one is from 5th of July which is what I have been using
I'm suggesting to update these stable builds every month if possible, so we have access to fixes/updates to Vray's core

Yes, I agree with Muhammed!

This would be great to have a stable build on a regular base. I use external render farms and they only install "stables".
And, the stable builds are not compatible with the Houdini production builds updates (H18.0.532)

I'm updating stable builds when it makes sense for V-Ray for Houdini project.
Of course there are changes and additions, but those changes will affect mostly only the nightly builds that actually use those changes (like new plugins or plugin parameters).

bdancer the stable builds don't get updated often, it is usually once every year
it would be nice if they get updated every month or 2 in my humble view.. because of Render farms like what Pixeltrain explained
And another reason now, is that we will not use the daily nightlies anymore.. they are not safe for what we do.. we decided to stick to stable nightlies or official builds in our production
Arnold official builds get updated every month or 2, with all fixes and new things they added.. which is great

I mean whenever you guys make sure that a nightly build is stable enough, maybe you can upgrade it to be an official or stable build?
Vray for Houdini plugin gets a lot of updates which is great, it would be nice to have access to that every month or 2

Yes, but most of those updates can't get into stable anyway, because they are quite different and that will make stable umm a nightly?
Anyway, I've updated the stable builds with the latest fixes in V-Ray Core and a build for the latest production build of Houdini.

I thought the updates/changes to nightly builds will make their way to an official release eventually.. I didn't know that they are special builds
I don't know honestly, maybe I will consider going back to the nightly builds at some point in future.

Some, yes, but not all the stuff from nightlies...
