pattern id node

I saw the pattern id node in another forum thread and its what i have been waiting for

i can only though manage to do it on the scene name and not the name attribute and is there possiblity to get for alembic paths?

As I've already written only attribute name "name" is supported for Alembics for now.
So, no, it's not possible for attribute name "path", only for attribute name "name".

Most important part of this is that it's matching the name attributes INSIDE the packed alembics, something you don't have access to otherwise

Not on top of the Alembic packed primitive "path" attribute, but on the "name" inside packed. glacierise may share some screenshot maybe.

Yes this works but you can do that in many other ways, while you can only access the name inside the packed alembic using the patternid

david.anastacio, yes, this "path", will work; I wasn't very clear, sorry, so, if you want to use per-polygon string attribute with Alembic only "name" will work (for now).
For normal geometry it'll work with per-polygon string attributes with any name.

OK, that clears it up.
The example file from chakarov was using the "path" attribute also, that's why you saying the "path" attribute didn't work left me scratching my head...

For a while the name attribute wasn't working.....but i was using the wrong houdini that had an older VFH version
With the correct VFH, yes the "name" attribute goes through the packed alembics and get fetched by the patternID node, nice.
