  • (Fixed) [HOU-2455] Fog noise on GPU + Noise

    Hi,

There is a little issue rendering Fog with on the GPU it seems that I can not control which lights affect the fog unless I change to CPU make my selection on the light then back to CUDA which works but is a super annoying workflow. If is working on the GPU wondering why is grayed out?
Also seems that if I want to use a noise it doesn't work on the GPU but it does on the CPU - can we please add this option on the GPU as well?
Just for comparison in Redshift, you can control on the lights which light you wanted to affect the fog. Also, noises work on the GPU.

Here is a little video to show what I mean. Thanks.

        Hey hsz ,

Please accept my apology for the delayed response.

I will update the Light Mode parameter immediately. I'm forwarding the request for supporting the texture sockets on the Fog node to the GPU team as well. You'll be notified as soon as there's any progress on that front.

        Best regards!

              Hey hsz ,

Your assessment is correct - the feature is not implemented yet. We have a few volume rendering related improvements on the bucket list to implement first so I can't say for certain when the texture sockets on the Fog will be exposed for use with V-Ray GPU.

A very large box that covers your entire scene, with the Volume Shader applied to it, should give you the same result as a workaround for the time being. The texture sockets work for the volume grid on the GPU as well. Would that work for you until the requested feature is implemented?

              Best regards!
