  • (Fixed, Fixed) [HOU-2464, HOU-2480] Debug mode for custom VOPs in V-Ray

    Hi,

Anyone knows how to make the debug mode of a custom VOP HDA work with V-Ray?

    Best,

    Hey David,

Sounds like something we need to investidate on our end. I assume it is the Subnet Output VOP that you would want to be evaluated if the debug flag is enabled on the parent HDA ?

    Best regards!

Hey, yes the subnet output would be the target so shaders can be debug at that point.
I was looking online and couldn't really find anything about VOPs debugging, besides some post of other people looking and not getting any answer

Wishlist then, debugging for custom VOP HDAs.

      Best,
      David.

Haha, same on my end - I was hoping it is possible to expose the debug flag on one of child nodes.

Regardless, hopefully it's just a matter of registering the Subnet Output VOP somewhere in our code. I'll update you once I get info from the devs.

        Best regards!

            Hey David,

This is now implemented in the latest nightly builds. There's a crash when deleting the debugged HDA - I'll inform you once we fix that as well.

            Best regards!

              Hi Gosho.Genchev,

Doesn't seem to be working. When I debug this node I should be seeing color, as the color correction after it is set to 0 saturation.

              V-Ray for Houdini number:12440 hash:557fae6 from 13 Mar 2021 02:57 (build number:12440)
              V-Ray Core 4.30.03 [14fe1e94] from 12 Feb 2021

EDIT: This seems to work in the V-Ray 5 builds, so the problem only persists in Next.

              Best,
              David.

                Hey David,

The crash is also resolved now. I will check the V-Ray Next issue and inform the dev team.

                Best regards!
