  • (Fixed) [HOU-2515] PSA: Global No Bitmap Override

    Hi everyone,

Warning to all of you updating V-ray to a recent nightly build coming from an older build.

In the recent builds the "Global No Bitmap Override" have a checkbox does comes disabled by default now, this makes it that all bitmaps that are missing will not be overwritten by a black color anymore (before all missing maps got a black color), the problem with this is that when artists add an environment node in an OUT context to add a fog for example, that environment node comes by default with an empty image node which before caused no problems because that global "Global No Bitmap Override" made it render black, but now your renders suddenly start having gray color through the mattes.

Default Color on image nodes when no image is found:
Click image for larger version Name:	default_color.JPG Views:	33 Size:	18.6 KB ID:	1109998
Default image file in environment nodes:
Click image for larger version Name:	default_env.JPG Views:	19 Size:	53.1 KB ID:	1109999
Result on matte objects of the missing bitmap in the environment node:
Click image for larger version Name:	matte.JPG Views:	19 Size:	58.9 KB ID:	1110000

Gosho.Genchev, the default environment node should come with a color node set to 0.0.0 and not an empty image node.

Hope this info can help someone else, as this cost us quite a bit of time hunting for this today.

    Best,
    David.

david.anastacio Both the bitmap override and it later being off by default where both feature requests from me. I think this is the most logic default and it matches also vray in other software. Though i agree that I rather have black then grey in default color be default on the image file node

        Hey Alexis,

The checkbox change is ok, and it being in line with the other DCC's makes sense. The part that's annoying is that it messed up stuff that's working and makes us lose time hunting for the problem.
This is easily fixed by that default color of the image node to be black instead of gray....why is the default gray? why?

        Best,
        David.
