  • LPE Object Tag

Is there any way to use object tags with Vray for Houdini?

Using the LPE tag field in the object/render tab doesn't seem to do anything.

I am trying to make a pass that only includes refracted rays from a particular emissive object.

Would be good to know if this is possible or not, so I can pursue a different solution.

Hello Dubbie99 , lpe labels could be specified in V-Ray Object Properties for objects, or in V-Ray Material ID VOP - per material.

Sorry to bug again, but could I see a sample scene?
No matter what I do, my tagged object or material just renders black in the light select pass.

              Thanks again Georgy.
The sample file was very helpful. It showed me the error I had.
The screenshot above showed lpe_label='obj1' That didn't work, but omitting the quotes does: lpe_label=obj1

I am wondering if you can also help me out with an expression. I am trying to come up with a LPE that will give me the refraction of a certain object.

For example, I have obj1 that is visible through a glass object, I want a pass that ONLY shows obj1 (refracted) and nothing else.
              Is this possible?

              Thanks,

              Rhys.

Hello Dubbie99 and really sorry about this late reply. Here is an example of how to mask refractions of material.
                  C<T[GS]'mrefrMat'>+<RD'geoLabel'>.*
this will output only refracted geoLabel object in refrMat material

Curious how is this done at an object level in Solaris itself?

Not sure I got the question. How to setup the label? It's in geometry render settings.
