  • [ HOU-2679 ] ( open ) Bake down large material shading setups?

Hi is there a way to bake down a large material shading setup that's using triplanar texture mixing with various attributes? As the setup gets larger it can take awhile to calculate the shader setup... I've been testing the vray baker but its very slow just to bake the diffuse channel. Basically my object is made out of bricks that are procedurally shaded with vray triplanar shaders and mixed with various attributes. My scene renders quickly but takes a long time to calculate the shader setup. I built the same shader in Arnold and it calculates the shader setup very quickly, however takes much longer to render the image. I'm not sure why the Vray version takes so long to calculate before it starts rendering the image. Any tips on how I can optimize to solve this issue are greatly appreciated. thanks

Hi adrian_camarena , can you share a simple scene with your shader so we could check what is going on. You could attach it here or use georgy.chakarov@chaosgroup.com or supprot@chaosgroup.com.

Thanks chakarov , I sent a simplified scene, with a simplified version of my object, with the shader applied to your email.

Looks like the problem is Houdini related, not V-Ray, but the devs are checking it.
