  • VRAY for H seem very flaky on Linux and Mac at least.

I have really tried to get V4H to work on H and it is very unreliable for me on both my Linux workstation and Mac laptop. Here are some issues:
    - doesn't use camera properties (like fisheye) when rendering IPR
    - after the above fail, regular rendering also doesn't use the camera properties until I have restarted H
    - Rendering fisheye on CPU works (given the above!) but switching to GPU only builds the light cache in fisheye and then the actual rendering goes back to some regular camera
    - PDG ropvray almost always reports and issue wirth syncing internal nodes when the .hip file is opened.
    - PDG usage in general is very flaky and also seems to brake other renderers (can't render in mantra in PDG anymore!)

I can of course get basic objects to render etc and it looks ok, but I especially need the PDG integration and fisheye to work

Any other experiences? Is it better on Windows? I really prefer to stay in Linux but for this project I could go Windows if that is the only way to get stuff to work at the moment!
    /F

    Dear filip_wnstrm, hello.

I have just answered you in the ticket you have opened in our system.
Excuse us again for the delayed response!

Please take a look what I have explained and asked there.
Be sure that no matter if the communication is held here or in a support ticket we will provide you the same support and the whole V-Ray for Houdini team will be enlightened about the topic.

We have many customers who work on Linux, so it is not a neglected operating system.

    Best regards,
    TS
