Is there a way to have fire lights in an AOV? They don't seem to be in GI, they show up in reflection/spec and show up weirdly in the Shadow AOV. But is there a way for them to show up in their own aov for a compositor to separate? I am doing fire and the color is being changed in nuke but the emission color/light color also needs to be changed. Thanks.

Hey ben_martin ,
You are correct - separating the fire lights into different AOVs is not as straightfoward as we would like it to be. It's been on the developers' roadmap for some time now but more pressing features such as absorption and anisotropic scattering for volumes were prioritized.
There is a neat document explaining an exisiting workflow for compositing volumes in the Chaos Phoenix documentation: https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...Fire+and+Smoke
Could you please give that a go and get back to us?
Hope that helps!

Thanks for responding Gosho.Genchev , and that link is helpful but I'm more stuck with using the fire as an emissive light on geometry like a character or an environment there doesn't seem to be a way to separate or even have the fire light show up in a useable aov. The fire light doesnt seem to be in gi or lighting but shows up in the shadow aov. Self-illumination is useful but is there an object illumination pass? Hope this makes sense. Thanks.Last edited by ben_martin1; 27-07-2022, 11:55 AM.

Hey ben_martin1 ,
but is there an object illumination pass?
I'm not sure if that would be useful in your case but I've attached an example here: LINK
Hope that helps!

Gosho.Genchev sorry for the late response, this is very helpful thank you. Do you think there are any plans to make fire lights available as a light can be split out in an aov? Even if there was a LPE opinion to split it out we would really appreciate that! Thank you.

Hey ben_martin1 ,
Yes, it's on the development roadmap - I can't speak with certainty as to when it is going to happen but it's definitely something we would like to have in V-Ray.
Best regards!
