  • Image File : PNG+Alpha+Transparancy

    Hi all,

I have a question regarding the outputs of a vray metaImageFile node. There's3 outputs, color, transparency and alpha. Color and alpha do what I expect them to do. With a PNG on transparent background I see in the alpha that the output reflects the correct values.

But I don't understand what the transparency output does.

It's almost like a boolean/mask channel that says what parts have alpha values < 1.0. If that is correct what is the main purpose of this channel, I was thinking of driving refract with it, would that make sense?

Would love to learn how to fully utilize this information. Any links are great as well, couldn't find nothing in the helpfile.

    Thanks!

Hi johanboekhoven , transparency is actually 1-Alpha.
