  • how to increase indirect lighting brightness in render setting

I was rendering a forest scene, nothing special , one sun light and one sky dome with hdr image, but darkside of the trees are too dark, is there a way to increase indirect lighting without doing the following:
    1.use ambient light
2.increase diffuse contribution of sun and / or sky dome light
    3.use auto exposure setting
4.render out GI channel and increase its brightness in post process
I know there are work arounds, but it's natural to have a parameter called "GI multiplier" in render setting I think.

You need to be looking at your image through some sort of tone mapping. If you try to keep your sunlight below 1.0, then your shadows will be far too dark. If you have appropriate tone mapping, you can have your sunlight up around 2-4 which will make your shadows brighter.

Don't mess around with nasty hacks like ambient light or boosting GI. It will just make your renders look ugly and fake.

@Dubbie99 thank you ! I set sun intensity to 4, and in VFB add a filmic tonemap effect, it's a lot better!!
