  • OCIO support in renderer

Are there any plans to support OCIO to specify the color space of the renderer itself?
There are only rec709 and ACES AP1 gamuts hard coded.
I would like to use a different gamut.

    Talking about here:

I guess there are only a few areas this affects.. The ones I know that require CIE XYZ calculations are the sky shader and the thin film shader. Maybe the dispersion as well? I am not sure if this affects the adaptive sampling also?

    Hey Dubbie99

We don't have plans on adding other rendering color spaces, V-Ray only support sRGB and ACEScg Color spaces
What other color spaces do you wanna try and why?

I am not sure if this affects the adaptive sampling also?
Nope, I'm not sure if it will help at all. And people use many different Output Transforms that come with OCIO and sometimes their own LUT

I guess there are only a few areas this affects
    Dispersion
    Lens Effects
    Hair shader
    Physical sky
    Chaos Scans
Kelvin Temperature for lights and camera white balance
    Thin Film

I want to work in BT.2020
the gamut is probably close enough to AP1 to get away with using the wrong one. Why is it hard coded? It would be nice if even if you didn’t support OCIO, you let us specify a matrix to go to CIE XYZ.

Actually ACEScg is not very close at all due to the D60 vs D65
