  • V-Ray BRDFLight | Redundant Parameters

    Hi!

Aren't the parameters "Double - Sided" and "Emit On Back Side" the same somehow?
    Or am I missing something?

    Thank you and greetings!

    Hello TubeSmokeGuy

    Thank you for your question!

At first glance one might think they do the same thing. However, at a deeper level they work differently and can be enabled in different situations which gives you more control over the whole set-up.

Emit On Back Side - When enabled, makes the object emit light from its back side as well. If this is off, the material is rendered as black on the back sides. At this case the object does not emit direct light and is not considered Light.

Double-Sided - When enabled, the material is double-sided. To be Turned ON you need to enable the Direct Illumination. Once this is done, the object is considered mesh light and emit direct light. At this case you will be able to add LPE tags as well.

Finally, you could see the difference in the Lights Render Elements: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/sc...0_08-19-06.mp4
