  • Shadow as texture in shader tree? Possible?

Hello, I am trying to do some non photo-realistic tests. At some point, I found that it would be very handy if there is a texture that catches shadows from a specific light and to use it further as a texture for mixing/layering textures. Is it possible to do something like that in Vray?

    Hey docaml ,

As far as I am aware, there is no way to do this. I did some experiements with OSL to see if that could do the trick but quickly realized it won't work for lights that are not a single point in space. Hopefully others will chime in with a suitable suggestion.

    Best regards!

Thank you Gosho.Genchev ! That is pitty. Although, with some texture acrobatic even single point shadow can do the trick. It is pity not to have such feature. Probably, even the snow texture with custom vector would do the trick, because I need occlusion from custom direction.
