  • Pyro - Trying to match Karma/Mantra render

Has anyone had any success matching the rendering of Mantra / Karma Pyro with Vray, I've been trying to get a very simple sim to look the same and it's proving very challenging.
I must've changed settings thousands of times to no avail.

I would think getting them to match should be relatively straightforward by matching attribute values and color ramps, but clearly, I'm wrong.

Has anyone had any success with Pyro in Vray?

Here is an example I've rendered. I've also attached the scene file

    Hey chadstevens ,

A long time ago, we made the following article:
    https://docs.chaos.com/display/VMAX/...Fireballpreset

It's possible that it's outdated now but I'd hope not as there haven't been major changes to the Pyro shader in Mantra itself, as far as I'm aware. It was the SOP-level workflow that changed a bit so some ... adjustments may be needed. Please ping me if you found it useful (or not! )

    Best regards!

Hi Gosho.Genchev thanks for getting back to me. I did read that article.

After a lot of research, I believe there has been a change and that is the scatter property in the Pyro bake volume, this guy has done a video on it, would it be possible to implement something like this directly into the pyro shader? It looks amazing in my opinion

Here is the video, a lot of it is beyond my understanding, but I'm sure you guys are more than smart enough to understand it

I just wanted to add that it would be great if we could dive inside the VrayVolumeGridShader node like you can in Arnold and Renderman, it means we can add these things ourselves as seen in the video.

      Cheers.
